Steve Bye is a native of La Crosse, Wisconsin and settled in Denver, Colorado in 1978. Prior to his retirement in 2017, he spent most of his career arranging financing and other forms of capital for major commercial real estate projects across the United States. Beginning in 1983, he built a mortgage banking office in Denver and over time, employed over 75 professionals, who contributed to the placement of over $13 billion in capital, encompassing at least 1,800 transactions. He holds a BBA in Urban Land Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MBA in Real Estate Investment, also from UW-Madison. Over his career, Bye was a frequent speaker at trade industry events and a guest lecturer at two major universities. In addition, he served on mortgage advisory councils for several major insurance companies and as a consultant to a variety of other entities. In 2018, he received the Legacy Broker Award from the Denver Chapter of NAIOP, the largest commercial real estate organization in Colorado. He is an avid golfer, spending his teenage years as a caddie and bag room attendant at a private country club, and in 1969, was awarded a Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship by the Evans Scholars Foundation to the University of Wisconsin.
